Offshore well: E6-1

E6-1 exploration well was drilled by CO Petrobaltic in 1984, in the southern part of the Latvia offshore area ca 40 km to SW of Liepaja, near the top of large faulted structure.

The well encountered 10 m thick oil saturated interval in the uppermost part of Ordovician. The interval was tested in cased well. About 4 bbl of waterless oil have been recovered during 6 hours.

Middle Cambrian sandstone in E6-1 well was encountered water-saturated, with oil shows and excellent reservoir properties.

Oil shows in Devonian in E6-1 probably mean that there was oil leakage from the Lower Palaeozoic reservoirs. But, it does not exclude better preservation conditions within other tectonic blocks of this large and complex structure.
