Offshore
well: E7-1
The
E7-1 well was drilled in
1982, in the Baltic, ca 100 km west of Liepaja. Its purpose was to study
the geological section and potential perspectivity of Lower Palaeozoic
deposits in a big SW-NE trending fault-defined structure E7.
The
well has penetrated a normal Palaeozoic
section consisting of Devonian, Silurian, Ordovician and Cambrian
deposits; there was a good correlation of depths with those predicted
based on seismic data.
Oil
shows have been observed in Upper Ordovician calcarenites, having
porosity 4.2-7.8% and very
low permeability.
The
porosity of Middle Cambrian prospective sandstones was 5-23%,
permeability– up to 168 mD.
The
well was plugged and abandoned at the total derth 1,650 m in the
pre-Cambrian basament.
